Winter Wedding

One of my dearest friends, the best friend of my cousin, got married last Monday. The wedding was very sweet and romantic and it helped that the reception was decked in wintry decadence! The color theme was purple and blue, which matched the Christmas season. I was crying most of the time...probably the wedding where I cried the most. I really loved it that the newly-wed couples were enjoying and having a grand time and were not stressed or looked like they were forced to marry each other.

Onto my outfit:
Dress - bought online, P350
Stockings - P190
Shoes, Janeo, on sale, P800
Clutch - native banig bought 4yrs ago, P30

Wrap-around and A Good Education

In my last trip to the thrift stores, I scored several dresses, about 6, for P40 each. All the dresses were still in good condition and my favorite one was this dark blue wrap-around dress with white prints.

Wrap-around dresses are figure-flattering. They emphasize or give you the illusion of a well-proportioned waist and they hide big hips/thighs (like mine) if the skirt is a full circle skirt.

On the background is my elementary school. All my primary, secondary and tertiary years were spent in public schools but I never felt I was robbed of anything I was supposed to learn. I spent my elementary years in a public school in Siquijor, but by the time I went to Cebu for highschool at a state university highschool, my classmates thought I came from a private school because I spoke English very well. My teachers at the public schools were "old school" but very good and dedicated educators.

Anyway, my point is, I still believe in public schools. :)

One of the things I discovered, and obsessed with, this year were hats. They do not just add a little oomph to your outfit, they also protect you from sunlight, and serve as "cover-up" when you don't want people to know it's you.

Outfit:
Hat - Pierre Cardin, thrifted
Dress - thrifted
Bag - I love Philippines, P40

Immortal

I'm happy I'm not immortal. I will be a year older, and a year happier. :)

P.S.: Constantly looking at the photos I posted made me realize I look horrific.
I look so plaster-white. Pardone.

Water

We are lucky most of us can still drink clean water as many times as we want every day and any day. We are lucky we can still swim in waters not contaminated with life-threatening diseases. But we know that not many in the world are us lucky as us. So, please, please, let us start conserving water.

Hi and hello. :)

Life's Greatest Pleasures

can come from the smallest of all things.

I've been really busy the past five months because of school, and I did not have enough time to do the many things I love to do -- like thrift shop and cook(!). Now that the semester's over, I have more than enough time in my hands to do many things, and/or do nothing (which I love doing!). :)

So, last Sunday, my sister and I went thrift shopping to our hearts' desire and I am just waiting for the clothes to dry so I can wear them. We also went out to see Eat, Pray, Love, which for me, was a beautifully crappy movie. (Julie Roberts + Javier Bardem + food + Italy = beautiful!)

And I got to cook! I am not a very good cook. In fact, in our family (which, by the way, consists of my father, my mother, a sister, a brother and a nephew), I think I am the least gifted when it comes to cooking, aside from my brother, who's just so lazy he doesn't cook unless left on his own, and my nephew, who's just seven years old and is barely tall enough to reach the oven top.

But I love cooking.. often, it's only I who eat what I cook. It's pathetic. That's why I only sometimes cook for myself. And, so, I cooked spaghetti, which is, probably my what you'll call, "comfort food." :)

City Lights

In this little (but not so little) city we live, there are so many things to do and so many sights to marvel at. There are places who thought no longer exist but is still there, and have become so much better.

Tsim Tsai Tsui

I forgot the spelling of the name of the Chinese place. Although I'd give a high grade for the interior -- it matched my hot pink vintage top -- the food is so-so. The food at an old-time favorite, Harbour, is better. :)

Almost Autumn

Of course there's no autumn here in the Philippines. But September marks the start of another festive season in the country -- Christmas season! :) The air's been getting cooler (at least at dawn).

Maria Elena

I recently watched Vicky Christina Barcelona and has been in love with the character of Maria Elena (portayed by Penelope Cruz)... the wavy/messy hair, the lips (!!!), the eyes, the way she speaks the Spanish language, the disheveled clothes like she has just made love with (Javier Bardem). Gah! Penelope is lovely, but she was very lovely as Maria Elena.

Sunshine Corazon

Yellow, as I may have mentioned in a previous, previous blog, is not my favorite color. It's my sister's favorite color. Yellow may as well represent the Philippines these days, and probably for six years because our current president is a famous yellow (too much smoking makes you yellow) guy.

But I found this beautiful pair of yellow pointed flats with rhinestones at a thrift store and I just have to have them. I even hid the pair from my sister for a while for fear she will get them. It helps that she's about 2 shoe sizes smaller than mine. :D ha! I debuted the pair today and I was very happy and my feet felt beautiful until the shoes broke through my skin and I had to buy a pair of slippers at the mall! Bleh

But they're beautiful noh?

And...speaking of yellow.. have you seen the pilot episode of Glee Season 2.. with Charice! I'm not a fan of Charice but I find her very cute in her Telephone duet with Rachel. Rachel's sooo envious and mean already.. but I look forward to seeing more of Charice and the whole of the Glee gang. :) I'm also praying for Javier Bardem to appear in one or more episodes. He's currently my new crush.

Tatah!

Around the City

Meet Cebu City. :) -- my adoptive city. You know, I'm not a local Cebuano but I have been living in the city for more than 10 years now. I've been here since I was 12 years old. I could never become a Cebuano but I love it as much as my island-home. Cebu is where all of my closest friends and love live, and Cebu is the place who have contributed so much to my growth.

So, meet Cebu City. These pics were taken last Thursday, a Cebu holiday, in celebration of one of Cebu's most famous man, Sergio Osmena.
