An Outfit: I'm Leaving . . .

Photobucket

I'm off to Paradise (think: Siquijor) on Friday for the Holy Week. My boyfriend took this photo using my film camera during our weekend trip. This is in part of a mini-video he is working on for the Shop. :D hehehe

An Outfit: Harem Pants & Red Cap

032010c

032010a

Went to a pocket out-of-town trip over the weekend with my boyfriend. We went to a town down south of Cebu. I was happy to have found this pair of harem pants at one of my favorite thrift shops (which was having a sale). Though I was not confident I'd look decent in this pants, they were the most comfortable pair I've ever worn, and that include pajamas.

I also donned to the red cap because I saw Calivintage and L'armadio del delitto wore one. I really like her style. :D

Today's Outfit: Boodle Fight

Photobucket
Photobucket

Went out to dinner with my boyfriend's family. We had a "boodle fight." :D I wore this satin/silk blouse I thrifted last Sunday. I am always drawn to silky things because I find them easy to wear and they always have an added "class" to them. I also liked this top because of it's collar -- a sort-of lopsided turtleneck. :D And, yes, I like polka dots.

My outfit:
Top - thrifted
Skirt - thrifted
Bag - gift from Grandma
Sandals - Grendha

Went to a dinner date with my boyfriend, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, and my sister's best friend. Wore this vintage violet dress that I purchased months back. The dress, for me, is perfect for summer. I also especially love the shoulder pads.. Make my shoulder look "properly poised."

Dress - thrifted, vintage

Girl Crush: Charlotte Gainsbourg

She's soo "masculine," and tough, but she's so gorgeous, especially her unkept hair. It sure helps that she has Jane Birkin for a mother.

Images not my own, from various sources.

An Outfit: Old Photos

Photobucket
Photobucket

These were taken after the Shop's January Lookbook photoshoot. Most of the times, my boyfriend and I bring our own cameras and we always fail to take photos of us together. There are rare occasions that we remember. And this was one of those occasions.

My outfit:
Shirt - Artwork - the only place where I buy shirts at full price, and only white shirts at that
Shorts - thrifted

I hate that tomorrow's already Monday.

Today's Outfit: A Collar

Photobucket
Photobucket

I deconstructed a vintage dress I listed at the Shop that was not sold. I took out the collar and paired it with a plain blue cotton daydress. The rest of the dress -- lace and fabric -- I reserve for other uses like gift wraps and scrapbooks.

Happy weekend!

Today's Outfit: So-so(?)

Photobucket
Photobucket

Today was meeting day. On meeting days, I have to wear comfortable clothes and shoes because I will be lugging my laptop with me. It's not a heavy laptop.. it's a netbook. On top of the laptop I also bring a camera. I'm always bringing a camera. So my bag gets heavy. Plus I bring my notebook and other papers for work.

Also, on meeting days, I try to come earlier than my team mates so I'd get to take pictures of the venue. I think my team mates are French. (hahaha!) We always meet at cafes. Believe me, having a meeting at a cafe relaxes me. It's not uptight compared to a formal conference hall.

My outfit:
Top - vintage, thrifted
Vest - borrowed from the Shop
Jeans - thrifted
Shoes - Gibi
Bag - thrifted

Tonight was also French film night. We watched My Wife is an Actress starring real-life couple Charlotte Gainsbourg and Yvan Attal.

Today's Outfit: DIM[yself]

Photobucket
Photobucket

Went to my boyfriend's house for dinner tonight. And because I did not have much time to get dressed to the nines, I just recycled my pair of Guess cut-off shorts, this pair of puffed shoulder tee, and viola! a bib necklace I made this afternoon in less than 10 minutes. :)

Materials for the bib necklace:
6 pcs. ready-made flower appliques
felt paper from arts & crafts store
spare black zipper to serve as tie (bcos I didn't have black ribbon at hand)
glue gun & stick

Summer Shopping

I regularly edit my closet -- like once every three months. I am not a fan of hoarding too much clothes. I want my clothes displayed properly because I want to wear them. I don't want to store clothes for "future" use. I have a feeling that clothes, like people and other living things, have feelings too. And that if you are happy wearing them, and you take good care of them, they will never disappoint you. :)

I keep clothes that make me happy when I wear them. I sell/give away clothes that make me look & feel frumpy, do not flatter me and makes me fidget. I want clothes to be practical, comfortable, and special.

The past months, while shopping for the Shop, I have also picked few items to add to my closet. Most of these clothes, I realized, are meant for summer, which for me, means only two things -- Holy Week and fiesta. My summer starts with Holy Week and ends with our town's fiesta, on May 15. That's summer for me. :)

Photobucket

1 - Moschino overnight bag
2 - Pentax MV-1 manual camera
3 - 3 tops
4 - 3 vintage dresses
5 - black body-con vintage dress
6 - short-sleeved floral jacket
7 - 2 hats
8 - yellow floral scarf
9 - floral pashmina

Excluding the camera, all items cost me P965. Not bad, noh?

Oh, and if you've noticed, I didn't buy a new pair of one summer must-have -- a swimsuit. That's because I am, admittedly, not a beach babe. I am actually just contented in recycling my old pairs of swimsuits. :D

How about you, lovelies? Did you do your summer shopping already? Or is summer shopping really necessary?

Lakbay Philippines

We, people, love to travel . . . by land, by sea, by air . . . though our eyes, our visions. It is almost summer, and one of the things we usually do on summer is to TRAVEL! The Philippines does not lack a place for traveling, whether it the beach, for the food, the culture, whatever. To guide you with where to travel (and what to do and what to bring), hop on to Lakbay Philippines for insights.

Lucky Find: Yay for Bodysuits!

Left-to-right: DKNY, Excursion, no label

I have always thought bodysuits are for older women, athletic women, ballet dancers and Madonna. But ever since seeing The Cherry Blossom Girl wear an American Apparel bodysuit, and she styled it great, I was on the search for bodysuits. My first very lucky find was the DKNY body suit, thrifted, of course, and fits well. I have been extra lucky to find two additional body suits, the gray striped one and the lace one. :)

I find bodysuits easy to wear because they don't bunch in the waist area, and they form the body. They feel like t-shirts but are not wrinkly. I've been praying to find silky bodysuits like those sold at Italian boutiques here in the city. No luck so far.

All are thrifted and all were bought for less than P50 each.

Today's Outfit: Abstract B&W

Photobucket
Photobucket

I found this abstract loose blouse at the thrift shop last Sunday. My grandmother loved the design, especially the sleeves, which resembled tulip petals. I wore it today (while delivering orders from the Shop) to test drive it. Hmm.. I think the cotton fabric was comfortable but the top was too loose for me, it kept slipping off my shoulders. So, the top will go to the Shop. :D

Outfit:
Top - thrifted
Bag - thrifted
Shorts - Guess vintage
Slippers - Marikina Shoe Exchange, local brand

Lucky Find: French Macaroon(s)

I envy people who are making a living out of things they love to do. I love my work -- tracking billion-dollar bankruptcy cases in the U.S. and writing news about them -- but this work bores me sometimes, like today. And it is especially hot today that all I really want to do is read, or write a little, with a pitcher of mango shake beside me. :D

In the past days and months, I realized I haven't posted about my "lucky finds" -- beautiful finds that are cheap, and almost free.

So, to start, I have finally been lucky the day before Valentine's Day when I visited a patisserie here in the city and they have macaroons for sale. I have visited often in the past but was always unlucky because the macaroons are always sold out.

Vanille Patisserie, Ayala Center, Cebu

For P28, I think, the macaroon was a heavenly bite. I prefer black/dark chocolates over sweet chocolates and this macaroon was on the "dark" side. It was a perfect treat, except, of course, it was too small and expensive.

Make-Up & Michille Phan

I'm not so into make-up and cosmetics. My bestfriend and I have always planned to take formal lessons on how to properly apply cosmetics, but we never really got to doing it. Recently, I have taken interest on cosmetics . . . though my arsenal still consist of powders, lipsticks and brushes bought and received as gifts 2-3 years ago. (Is that unhealthy?)

Anyway, what I wanted to share is . . . I'm a Michille Phan fan. :D I love it that her make-up tutorials are free. I mostly find make-up artists snobs, or maybe I am just too shy.

striped bodysuit + floaty skirt + gold chain belt used as a necklace is a look I'm going for these days. Part angel, part rocker.

I multi-task and aim to finish more than 1 project in one sitting. That's probably why I don't always excel in everything I do -- because my mind (concentration and all) is divided. But last Saturday, I was really multi-tasking. Taking photos, holding the flash for my boyfriend, texting my friend, and modeling (well, posing before the camera for a test shot). :P

We had a photoshoot last Saturday for a highschool classmate and her boyfriend. They wanted us to take pictures of them. They're not getting married; they just want to have pictures of themselves. I enjoyed it despite the hot sun!

On to the outfit:
Hat - Pierre Cardin, thrifted
Top - thrifted three years ago

Sandals - Grendha

If you're wondering what cameras I have slinging in my body.. both are Pentax film cameras.

AN AWARD!!!
++++++++++
Yey! I received a Beautiful Blogger award from Meream, whose arts & crafts skills I admire and wish to covet. When I discovered her blog, I've been inspired to do more recycling and be more creative, and learn to properly sew. :P Thanks, Meream!

And now, ze rules:

1. Thank & link the person that gave you the award.

2. Pass this award onto 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and think are fantastic.

3. Contact said blogs and let them know they’ve won.

4. State 7 things about yourself.

Since I haven't been discovering much blogs these days, I won't be passing the award around. I'll just let it sit until I discover new blogs. And, on to #4, my favorite, here are seven things about myself:

1) I don't own a pair of sneakers or rubber shoes. The last pair I owned I purchased because it was necessary for me to wear rubber shoes for Physical Education in college. I always think I look like Ronald McDonald when I wear sneakers/rubber shoes.

2) I take photographs obsessively. My camera(s) is my favorite accessory. I feel empty without one. I have seven cameras at hand, and use them alternately, or together.

3) I never splurge in clothes. I, 90%, buy my clothes from thrift stores. The 10% were given as gifts. I believe in splurging in shoes. Shoes are orgasmic. Shoes are looove. But I don't splurge in shoes. I wear the trusty and comfortable slippers and sandals 95% of the time.

4) My biggest splurges are films, food, and trips.

5) I always wish I am "properly" made-up all the time. But I'm not and I can't because I don't believe in wasting too much time making myself up.

6) I think I am baduy, but many people covet my closet.

7) I buy more books, and waste more films, than clothes.

Mariella Burani Shuts Down Operations

Debt Woes Take Toll on Italy's Burani

MILAN—Italian fashion firm Mariella Burani Fashion Group SpA said Friday its board had resigned and it would next month hold a shareholders' meeting to name liquidators with a view to shutting down operations at the company, which is struggling to stay afloat beneath €600 million ($813 million) in debt.
